The location close to the historic center of Altmannsdorf requires a sensitive approach to the existing low buildings. By staggering the heights, the building gently blends into the streetscape. The resulting terraces are connected across all floors and create coherent, proportionate outdoor spaces.

A cantilevered, three-storey volume frames the forecourt and leads into the heart of the school: the sheltered schoolyard and the assembly hall with a seating staircase. The hall is naturally lit over several floors, forms the communicative center and seamlessly links the outside and inside spaces. The classrooms are oriented towards the exterior and connected to the common center via the open learning zones.

The individual construction elements are clearly separated from each other according to the principle of „shearing layers“. Stiffening cores and a simple column grid form the primary load-bearing structure, while a curtain-type timber element façade forms the outer shell. The modular timber construction is clearly visible both in the small-scale façade and in the interior.
